The AEPA Art Exam determines your qualifications measured against the Arizona Academic Standards. A high score shows your readiness to teach art in Arizona schools. The Art test has three parts and possible scores: Creating Art, 35%; Art in Contest, 45%; and Art as Inquiry, 20%. Questions on the AEPA Art Exam cover general knowledge about art, including elements of art, composition, and principles of design, as well as information about specific topics, such as tools, techniques, and materials.
The test will include the areas of fine arts, communication and design arts, architectural and environmental arts, and folk arts. A test taker should understand art as a communication tool, art interactivity with other disciplines, art history, the geographic and cultural contexts of art, art interpretation, and art career choices. Knowledge of art from around the world from ancient to contemporary times will be tested.
