The AEPA Mathematics Exam tests six subject areas to ensure that you are qualified to teach mathematics in the Arizona public schools. The following six areas are covered:

Number Sense, 14% of the test: Understand concepts of integers, fractions, decimals, real and complex number systems, number theory, and problem solving.

Data Analysis and Probability, 14%: Know the principles and applications of statistics and probability.

Patterns, Algebra, and Functions, 18%: Demonstrate a knowledge of the basics of linear and matrix algebra; quadratic equations; and polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, and rational functions.

Geometry and Measurement, 18%: Demonstrate your knowledge of measurement concepts and principles of geometry, including geometric figures, coordinate geometry, and vectors.

Trigonometry and the Conceptual Foundations of Calculus, 18%: Comprehend and apply trigonometric functions and the concepts of limits and integrals.

Mathematical Structure and Logic, 18%: Demonstrate a mastery of mathematical reasoning and problem solving techniques, terminology, axiomatic systems, and the relationship between mathematics and other fields.
