AEPA Middle Grades Social Studies Exam
Six areas will be covered in the AEPA Middle Grades Social Studies Exam.
- American History, 23% of the test: Be able to describe American history from early American civilizations through contemporary times.
- World History, 23%: Know the developments of civilizations from ancient times, through the Renaissance and Enlightenment, up to current times.
- Civics and Government, 16%: Be able to present the structure and functions of the U.S. government and compare it to other world governments. Understand the principles of citizenship.
- Geography, 16%: Know how to use different geographical aids, including maps and globes. Identify characteristics of regions, physical and human systems, and the interaction between the environment and society.
- Economics, 13%: Understand the basis of economics from personal finance to micro- and macroeconomics.
- Social Studies Skills, 10%: Apply research skills in the social studies areas and be able to analyze and evaluate social science information.
