AEPA Professional Knowledge-Early Childhood Exam

The AEPA Professional Knowledge-Early Childhood Exam measures qualifications for teaching in Arizona public schools. Four areas will be tested. Foundations of Early Childhood Education, 28% of the score, will have questions on the organization and administration of early childhood programs, professional responsibilities, and expectations. Promoting Child Development and Learning, 36%, will show that the test taker understands building learning environments and using effective methods, learning processes, and assessments to enhance each child's learning. Part three, Child Guidance and Inclusive Learning Communities, 18%, has questions about a child's social and emotional development, along with principles for working with children from diverse backgrounds and family situations. The final section, Family and Community Relationships, is worth 18%. Questions cover the roles of families and their relationships to the early childhood educational program. Also included are questions on developing effective communication with other professionals and community resources.
